for 10/24: 5-Hour Energy Commercials

5-Hour Energy Commercials:
Click on this link, and then on the second commercial, the one with the woman holding a lot of groceries. What else could happen, besides only her working so hard that she needs an energy drink?

  1. I've had a five hour energy and that stuff is pretty intense. I felt very jittery and didn't really know what to do with myself, It also made me feel kind of out of it at the same time. Also they say to take one serving of it which is half of the bottle, so that could have something to do with it but. Anyways there are much better and natural things to take for energy instead of these company man made drinks. Just smelling natural mint oil gives you energy. Also I don't know why this lady is working two jobs. Her husband is just sitting on the couch while she brings in all the groceries, and then he tries to take all of the 5 hour energy drinks away from her. Not good. Josh Boyer

  2. I think at first glance this commercial is upsetting. The mother should not have to come home from work and then have to grocery shop and take care of the children while her husband is sitting on the couch reading a magazine. I also think that the viewer doesn't have all the information about the situation. The husband could have a job too. Maybe they take turns grocery shopping or he had to stay home and make sure the kids did their homework (which they were doing as the mother leaves the kitchen). Maybe he just finished mowing the lawn and cleaning the house while she went shopping. The possibilities are endless. If he was just being lazy and making her do all of the work, this is wrong. A marriage should involve equal amounts of work. Better solutions then five hour energy drinks could be eating healthy foods that provide energy, taking naps, relaxing for short periods between her two jobs, or coffee--which is probably healthier than the energy drinks, especially if no sugar or cream is added. If her husband isn't already, he could step up and lighten his wife's load so neither would be as tired. If they work together then they can both be done earlier and be able to sleep or relax. At the end it is strange that the husband tries to take the energy drinks back from his wife. Maybe he has had a tiring day as well and wants to drink one. If he suggested them to her in the first place maybe that means he has had days just like hers before.

  3. Jennifer, What do you think the producers of the commercial want us to believe?
