There was one thing in the interview that I appreciated the most about Janelle Monáe and was when she was asked if she appreciated being compared to anyone of the infamous singers and composers they had listed. When she states that she enjoys being herself it caused me to have a greater respect for her as an artist and I realized then that her style was not simply an act or façade, but purely who she was. It made me want to start listening to her music because it was pure.
