Jean Kilbourne of Killing us Softly is a leader in her field, having received some 2 dozen prestigious awards.

What are the natures of the various organizations who have granted her awards?

  1. I really enjoy the Killing us Softly movies, and I think that they have a very powerful message. Unfortunately I think that many people have never heard of these films, or even of Jean Kilbourne herself. The first time I had ever heard of her was in my WS 190 class. I really enjoyed the films, and I think most of the students in my class did as well. The problem is that her films seem to only be seen in educational situations. I would be wrong, but most of her awards seem to come from some sort of an academic background. Therefor, the women who are exposed to her ideas are usually women who are pursuing a higher education outside of highschool. In my opinion, all women, and men as well, need to see her films. They should begin showing these films in classrooms in highschool...if they haven't already.
