Female musicians in Pakistan. Listen to the story and the music here.

What challenges do these women musicians face? What do they sing about? Why do they sing?

  1. These women musicians are faced with challenges every day that they have to live with.Simply just because they are women. Where they come from, Lahore, it is not common for women to be involved in music. The two women, Zeb Bangash and Haniya Aslam choose to write their own music. Usually they write their song about happy things. In an interview with Zeb she says that they enjoy writing about happy things because the world is filled with happiness you just have to recognize it. People who do favor their songs enjoy them because they are so tranquil and meaningful. These women put a lot of effort and thought into the music that they create and they should be recognized for it. They have a talent that several people do not have. They sing because they like what they do and wish to make a difference for other women such as themselves. Proving that you should be able to do what you want not just because you are of a certain gender. -Annamarie Ramirez
