What does feminism mean to Beyonce?

  1. Well to Beyonce feminism is being around her friends and them having a great influence on who she dates and why. She looks at how she wants to be treated and she applies it to her relationships.

  2. I believe in being whatever you want to be, but I believe this blog is a little vague for me to understand if Beyonce is truly a feminist. However, all women should have the innate want to be treated equally and fairly among society. If by being close with the women she has been surrounded by all her life has helped steer her from maltreated relationships that do not offer her this, then I totally agree Beyonce is a feminist.

  3. I was just reminded of the Destiny's Child song "Independent Woman," in which financial independence plays a key role in self-empowerment.

  4. I like how she likes to be around her friends to be stable and get advice about things such as relationships. It's good when girls stick together and help each other out. Men are not superior to woman as woman are not superior to men and learning how to be in a relationship with someone else is very important. It is also important however to be able to learn from your own experiences rather than everyone elses. Woman need to stick to together but everyone, including men, need to have a mind of their own.

  5. In my opinion I Think feminism to beyonce is expressed in all of the great music she writes. "sinlge ladies" was a really popular song she wrote, the song was based off of a relationship and the woman was doing her part in the relationship and the guy wasn't, the guy was beating around the bush so she moved on. Beyonce speaks for a lot of woman she shares/shared problems with through her songs and I respect that on so many levels. (spencer young)

Beyonce uses Feminism in a way, like Allie Deyo commented, by having this strong bond with her women friends, where she can get their perspective on how they feel and go about making decisions with men in their lives. Therefore, Beyonce can learn how to deal with relationships in her life with men. I have to agree with Beyonce, in my past I have listened to my close girlfriends when they’ve told me I should rethink who I am dating. From this I have realized that my relationship with men is stable and healthy, and I’ve learned not to make the same actions twice.

  7. I agree with pretty much everything said in the posts above mine. I think Beyonce is an excellent role model for women around the world. After reading this article it made me realize how important women are to other women. Beyonce talks about how her girlfriends play an important role with her relationships. I think its very important for your girlfriends to approve and accept whoever you are in a realtionship with as well. A lot of Beyonce's music has to deal with feminism in the sense that she is working to make women a bigger part of society and looked at more then they typically would be.

  8. In my opinion Beyonce is a perfect role model for a feminist. I love women who can be independent and show the world that they don't need a man to get far in life. I also agree with her about the women friendships she has because I myself have a many friendships that I value and would never to anything in the world to betray my friends or anything that would upset the special bond we have.
