Is the video "Feminist Art or Shameless Publicity Stunt"? What do you make of the ending?

  1. I think that Eryka Badu is trying to show her way of Feminist Art. I think in her video it shows it by her getting down into her birthday suit. I also think that she is trying to point out to us that our body is art and everything we do around us and the environment is art. I really don't believe that by her stripping down was a publicity stunt because she shows and explains to us how well our bodies are a piece of art and I really did like it.

  2. This video made me think of a lot of things. Some of the posts on Feministing.com commenting on the video were ridiculous. I don't think that her nudity had anything to do with anything sexual, she is merely using her body as art. I would rather see a woman walking down the street completely naked then one who is wearing next to nothing and being sexual about it. I think the message is what is key here.

  3. I think that Eryka Badu was trying to show off her feminist art. Our bodies are a work of art. why not show it. Her showing her body to me is her freedom of speech. Their tons of contoversy that she is disrespecting JFK's death. Her video was against gruop think. My friend to me group think is when people follow the group that they hangout with and do the same thing as them even if they dont agree. Eryka Badu was talkin about being an indivdual and not following the group at the end of her video. she talks about when being different you often judged.thats why she dies at the end of the video. By taking off her clothes to me expresses her freedom of art and music.Which she does in the end of the video. I love the concept very deep-Altagrace Jean-Francois

  4. I think the way Eryka Badu is sending her message is a great idea. The way she slowly stripped down until she was completely naked represents different levels of individuality. The more clothes she takes off, the more she stands out in the crowds of people, until she's completely naked, and shot down. I believe that she was using her body as a form of art to express herself. This was a simple form of art that's supposed to go much deeper than just her "nice body". Anyone who sees it that way is not taking this video seriously, especially after what she says at the end.

  5. This music video really shocked me as I began to watch it. I think if Eryka Badu wants to make something creative for her album and goes to the extent of being naked then that is just too extreme. In this day and age people don't just strip down to show expression, it's not appropriate. And I know to her it might be this big art revelation, but people on that street probably were offended and did not have any reason of why she was naked. I think that it is okay to express yourself, however, as long as you have boundaries. The ending surprised me because I didn't really understand how the murder of a President had to do with undressing yourself while reenacting the scene.

  6. When I watched this video, I couldn't help but wonder how being naked expresses oneself? I always thought that the best way to express yourself is with your clothes. People can truly express themselves with different outfits. I think that Eryka Badu just did this video as a publicity stunt. I think that she wanted people to buy her album because of her nudity. The ending to me was also strange because I couldn't relate how undressing yourself and a President's death relate to one another?
